Yes. I used to be a "social worker". One day everyone else's problems just overwhelmed me. I said to myself 'I can't stand these people! I'm drained!' I told my boss that I had trouble giving a crap about my clients and quit. Best decision of my life. Sometimes you should step back and see whats good for you.

No. I never get tired of caring. Everybody has inherent worth and deserves our respect and appreciation.
Also, every little thing that happens makes a difference to somebody, and I like for my impacts on others to be as good as possible. It appears that everybody but God screwed up at some point, and forgiveness is essential for all of us. But, that does not excuse bad behavior as we should all shoot for the stars.
I have a theory that goes as such. This realm of existence is a combination of Heaven and Hell due to natural causes and people's freedom of choice. Somewhere, somebody is being help captive and being tortured. Somewhere else, somebody else is falling in love for the first time and feeling wonderful and glowing. That leaves a great deal of latitude for either extreme or somewhere in between. But, there is no reason to be building Hell when you can be building Heaven.
As to "whatever happens happens", that is merely one way of looking at things. Sure, I bet there are going to be some BAD THINGS happening in the future, such as terrorist attacks. But, there are going to be terrorist plots twarted by law enforcement officials as well. What we do really does matter. If there were a child caught in a burning building, don't you think it would be better to rescue them if possible? You can just ACCEPT what happens or you can try to make a difference in the world for the better. I prefer building Heaven as I go and dealing with Hell as it happens or preventing it at times. We can all only do so much.
Good luck. I hope you never get tired of caring.

Yeah. All the time. Especially when I'm bathing my son. I get so irritated that he's already 6 months old and can't do it himself.
That's the same reason why I don't put child locks on the cabinets with all the cleaners. Whatever happens happens.
Good Luck!

Yes I do, but as you can well tell, that doesn't get you far because you turn into an ice queen and everyone starts to call you a b*tch. And then someone comes along, like prince/princess charming and awakens your sleeping cold heart.
Turning the other cheek doesn't always work.
Caring for those who deserve does.

No! Life will eat you up if you quit caring. That's when the bad stuff happens. Keep walking up that hill and eventually there will be shade and a little downhill section.

I thinik you have to occasionally - or you find yourself
twitching ever time somebody turns on the television
or opens a newspaper.
However, calm down, do something else, and maybe
come back to it. I promise, the world will still be here.

Yes! Sometimes I just don't have enough energy to keep up and care for everything. There is only one me and I can't do it all. So I say "oh well".
