I say no simply because how would she pay the bills? she is not going to be able to get a job to pay the rent, also no utility company is going to let a 13 year old have utilities in their name. also, like the person above said, who is going to rent to a 13 year old? If she is relying on her parents for money, etc, then she isn't having her own place.

Okay I'll try not to sound mean or anything... That's stupid to let a 13 year old with a 2 year old to get their own place. I can't say they are not ready because I don't know them. However based on their past mistakes I would say they shouldn't for two reasons:
1. Being a single parent is hard but being a single parent at 13!!!!!!!!! She can't even get a job yet! How can she support her baby and pay for an apartment!

2. She hasn't even finished school so how is she going to continue going to school and take care of her baby if she has her own place.

This is a recipe for disaster and no one in their right mind would let a 13 year old get their own place With or Without a baby!!

A 13 year old is a minor in the eyes of the law so her parents or guardian would be responsible for her. The only way to avoid this is to have her emancipated but emancipation of minors is granted in very limited situations such as in abusive families. Also, the child protection agencies of the state would not approve such a living situation since the mother is so young and the financial situation is so unstable without the support of parents. If it is the parents or guardians renting the place out for the 13 year old, it is possible but it would be impossible for the mother herself to do it on her own.

Even if the mother was emancipated and legally given the ability to make decisions for herself and she was allowed to keep her baby, the landlord/landlady would still view her as a credit risk. The average 13 year old does not have a credit record as the credit history is based on financial transactions an individual is responsible for. Unless this mother has been paying for bills in her own name or has had a credit card before, there won't be much of a history there to be checked. Also, a 13 year old usually needs a work permit to hold down a steady job and the jobs available to them are severely limited in terms of salary. This is another detractor from renting to a 13 year old tenant, much less one with a 2 year old baby.

So no, it is not ok at all.

No one will rent to a 13 year old. Baby or no baby the 13 y/o is still a child. Regardless whether the 13y/o could get her own place or not she should be living with an adult because she is a child and needs to continue being raised. Although, I don't know what kind of raising she had if she had a baby at age 11 (unless it was rape).

I really do not think that is a good idea. First of all a 13 year old needs help caring for a child, considering they are a child them self!! A child cannot take care of a child on her own non the less a apartment!!! I am grown woman & have a hard time taking care of a home & two kids!! How is a young girl going to do it?????? NO WAY!! she should stay at home with her parents or her kid's father's parents!! At least until she is eighteen & legal, and can pay her own rent!!!!!

How did a 13 year old get a two year old baby? She's still a baby herself and NO it's not ok for her to have her own place - she needs to grow up some first and obviously needs an adult role model.

First off at 13 you shouldn't have a 2 year old. What is wrong with you having sex at like 10 that's wrong. I would hope it was some form of rape. Anyway though under 18 no one will rent. Even with parental consent you would need to be 16.

What's the matter with you? Trying to trick us into agree? YOU are the 13 year old, not 30. If you have a 2 year old, you are not even ready to be a mother let alone on your own. Get off the Internet, get some contraception, and raise the toddler you have!

You know what? This is truly disturbing. Were you even develeoped yet? And I feel that the person who asked this question is NOT 13. And if you are, then shame on you. You need to really get slapped in the face for asking a dumb question like that, dummy! Maybe you are asking this question because your parents put you on punishment or something and you can't do anything else but get on the internet. Get an education, why don't you.

I'm doubtful that a 13 year old is capable of taking care of herself in terms of paying bills.. keeping a budget.. keeping groceries in the house.. let alone taking care of a baby too..

I would imagine Child Protective Services would be all over this in no time and she'd lose her baby.
