Catalina Island, off the coast of California. Take a short (hour or so) cruise over to the island from Long Beach. (Catalina Flyer is the name of the best boat). Transportation on the island is bikes, motor scooters or golf carts. (All can be rented). Of course, walking can get you most places around Avalon, which is not a large town. There's superb snorkeling in crystal clear water with gorgeous kelp beds, beautiful walks, the Pacific Ocean, horseback riding, a nice golf course, scuba diving (instructors and supplies are there), buffalo on the island, a natural gardens park, a maritime museum in the old casino (no longer used as a casino), good restaurants, "beach bingo", great fishing, a tropical setting, a bus tour to the top of the island, tours of the Wrigley mansion (the gum millionaires) submarine rides, night tours to see the flying fish. Eat fish & chips at Rosies on the pier and don't forget to look over the side of the pier to enjoy the brilliant orange Garibaldi fish that live there. You can rent a kayak and paddle along the beach. There's plenty of hotels to choose from. I used to live there back in 1995. It's a wonderful relaxing place that is not commercialized. (There are no McDonalds or Burger King's there!)

i'm chuffed travelling on a captivating lake with a very good looking sunset as a lot as i'm on any sea coast everywhere else. i imagine i'd like to work out Italy and Scotland and are available across the mythical castles, caves, and in basic terms take excitement in the full thing about the international places. yet i'd be content fabric to commute my own us of a as there's a large style of attractiveness to be loved excellent right here. that is not the vacation spot, even if the adventure.
