If they commit a crime with a gun then no they shouldn't. In general, punishments should fit the crime.

I think an armed society is a polite society. in a rough town in CA. No one ever cuts you off when you drive because you will get shot. But for some people violence is "just business".

Other people it is fun, or because they have impulse control issues. There isn't really a way to tell them apart in our system. More importantly the criminals do not obey the law, by definition.

I guess my answer has to be, if it was a violent crime, (not check fraud or something the like) I would prefer they not be armed. But making a law doesn't necessarily make it so.

Frankly, it is the people who have guns who make the laws. What people don't seem to understand about gun laws is:
If the government has a monopoly on physical force there is nothing in their way of tyranny. That is the whole reason we have the RIGHT to bear arms.

So non violent crimes should not be restricted from carrying arms in my eyes. I would like my neighbors armed in the event the government goes too far one day in the far, far future.

Even thought its your constitutional right, Id think twice before doing it. It wouldnt be a bad idea only if each completed some kind of hunters safety program. If you honestly think of all the idiots, mental patients and road ragers who have not been caught doing a crime, it gets really scary. Anyone, anyplace, anytime could snap and have a gun at their disposal to do whatever they felt like, or even for the hell of it, starts shooting up the neighborhood. Then most of these people have no idea what size they could or would want. Too many "Dirty Harrys" wannabes out there just waiting to solve the worlds problems themselves. Think, of all the mobile homes in America, how many trailers a 357 hollow point would travel thru before stopping, if someone missed their intended target. Catch 22 situation;damn if you do and damn if you dont own own. Maybe there is a God afterall!

Well the way the law reads now if you have ever been committed of a felony you can't own a gun. I think it depends on the crime you have committed. Of course if you are worried about it do the right thing and don't commit any crime.

It entirely depends on the crime. If it's a violent crime, absolutely not.

Regarding the second amendment - read it. It does not say anything about the general population, only the "State's rights". You are not the state.
