Its just tendons needing to go back into place, and it's also air between the joints. It won't hurt you to 'pop' or 'crack' the joints. It wo't cause arthritis to do this (like the old wives tale says). My neck, back, shoulders, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, fingers, and toes do this all the time. I have seen my doctor about it and it is nothing to worry about. I have been 'popping' my joints since I was a kid (I am also 41) and haven't gotten arthritis from it and nothing else bad has happened either!

tendons stretching, they can get stiff or be pushed a little out of place while youre sleeping and that popping is them going back where they need to be..I have the same problem with my ankles and one shoulder...nothing to worry about unless the joint is starting to feel "loose" to you ..then you need to talk to an orthopedist.

you might wanna start taking some vitamins if youre not taking them already. I know they have vitamins for that but I don't know the name.
