Firstly, if you just want to output your display to your TV instead of your computer monitor, you have to check if both your computer (or graphics card to be exact) and your TV have S-Video ports. (links below on what S-video ports look like)

Then if both your graphics card and TV have S-Video, you can just get a S-Video cable and plug it into both ends. Then restart your computer and power on the TV.

For your computer, you may have to go to Display properties to enable the output.

For the TV, S-Video inputs usually correspond to either AV1 or AV2 so you have to try switching around until you can see the computer display. Usually if you connect a S-Video cable to the S-Video port of a TV, the OSD (On-Screen-Display) will show a box with a dash to indicate that there is S-Video input.

Then when you have the computer display on your TV, you can adjust the resolution using Display properties until you are satisfied.

If your TV don't have a S-Video port, you can still get a S-Video to RCA (links below on what RCA looks like) cable and then just plug the S-Video end to your computer and the RCA end to your TV. Then follow the same steps as above to enable display and adjust resolution.

If your Graphics Card has only VGA port (the regular port that goes to a computer monitor) then you have to get a VGA box that allows you to output to either S-Video or RCA and then get the neccessary cables to hook everything up.

There is no need for a TV tuner card unless your aim is to watch TV on your computer in which case, it will naturally display to your computer monitor coz its a bit redundant to be getting a TV tuner card to watch TV on a TV set!

Connect the S-video cable to the back of your TV and reboot the computer it should recognise the TV as an extra monitor

It should tell you in your TV or computer paperwork..I would go there or contact Dell before I would trust an answer on here-no offense to question answerers but if you do it wrong it could screw up the tv and computer

if you have a "S-video out" port you could get a s-video to "RCA" converter and connect directly to your t.v.. they are fairly cheap and can be bought at any electronics store.

if your t.v. is less than 4 years old it may have a s- video port.
