I hired an Agency worker whose performance is extremely poor. I raised this with my managers and they agreed on terminating his contract. I spoke to his agency and gave him a week notice. Another manager within the same department shows interest on keeping him on, so she spoke to the our manager and I was told to keep him? My decison have been overruled even though I am a manager in the business?

What do I do, I feel i have treated badly by both managers?

Have all managers perform a secret observation of this worker. That should prove to all of them that this employee is incompetent and/or inept.

You could request a meeting with your manager and this other manager, to ask why they felt this person should be retained when you felt their performance was poor enough to terminate the contract.
Also, maybe the agency worker needs to be told that their performance needs improvement if they wish to continue to be employed.

Well let them have the temp in their department and if the temp still is rubbish its not your fault as you had raised the question first.
i would speak to the manager who asked for the temp to be kept maybe the temp is a family memeber or friend I don't see why another manager would inerfere in your department??Meanwhile give the temp all crap jobs lol

YOU should sit down with the agency worker and work something out. Nobody wants to be without employment nowadays.
Be civil!!! Have a HEART!

Why did you hire them in the first place?
Did they not take an aptitude test? Maybe they should (compiled by the respective managers) and the decision to hire / fire could be fair.
