Well, I guess that is something that is still considered taboo. Going back to the days of slavery blacks have been treated as second class citizens in our society. Things are much better for blacks now as far as racism goes, so we tend to forget all of the bad things that they have undergone in the past, but pick up your history book sometimes or rent and old documentary and you will see how bad things really were for them and all the adversity they had to overcome. To simply answer your question I think it is a devise to ease all the racial tensions and make up for all the times our society viewed them as being the "N" word. Peace and God Bless this is the Cave Man signing out.

It seems that society has long forgotten about the "good old days". The days when blacks were ridiculed by whites who performed in black face and depicted them as being "spooks" and "jigaboos". Actors like Al Jolsen and others were adored by white audiences for years for their disgraceful depiction of blacks. They potrayed blacks as being ignorant and stupid. I want you to rent a copy of beauty shop and rent and old Al Jolsen routine and tell me which of the two is more offensive. In Malibu's Most Wanted Jamie Kennedy plays a suburban teen who wants to be a gangster rapper. Throughout the movie he constantly mimics what is supposed to be "black behavior". Isn't the character he is portraying making a mockery of black people? I am sure there are some blacks who may have found his performance a bit offensive. Movies like Beauty Shop and Malibu's Most Wanted are are not made to be racially offensive, they are made to be funny. I know blacks and whites that have seen both movies and enjoyed them. If you want to see something racially offensive rent an old Al Jolsen movie or comedy act.The acts were maliciously offensive to blacks and whites loved it. When you find a black person doing something like that, let us know. I don't feed into racism. You give us Beauty Shop which you say blacks make fun of whites, I give you Malibu's Most Wanted where whites make fun of blacks. The two things both movies have in common is that they are situational comedies where you have to whites trying to fit into a black environment. Years ago in the movie Soul Man, C. Thomas Howell potrayed a white student posing as a black student in an effort to acquire a full academic scholarship to Harvard. Over the years we have made significant strides in overcoming racism. All cultures have their differences. Movies of this genre simply take the opportunity to have fun with them. As adults it is important that we be able to sit back and laugh at ourselves and continue to make steps forward in race relations rather then repeating the mistakes of our past. Peace and God Bless.

it is all about acceptance. if more whites announced they were offended..than it would be a different story. the squeaky wheel gets the oil. most blacks that grew up with redicule reject public putdowns. especially racial in nature. however a number of blacks dislike or feel uncomfortable when whites are attacked. i think it is more of a comedy thing.. than racial. comics criticize those who are heavy..blind ..crippled.. and i have discomfort with that... but the concept is...if we dont laugh at some things.. we will all be depressed... it is laughing at some sad things so we dont cry. i hope i am making this clear.... it is hard to express.

I asked my mom that and she said it was because there are more white people in the US and because of the whole slavery thing. But at my old high school (magnet school), everyone talked about everyone's race. Black, white, asia, all of them, but only to our friends. It would probably be ok if they were your friends.

Because black people have had it worse than any other race of people on earth in all of history. We should give them more opportunity and more welfare. Just ask Jessie Jackson and the whole democratic party. That's what they believe and that's what they want you to believe.

I've always wondered this...and that jibe about talking behind their backs..isn't true. I try not to talk about people behind their backs. (if you can't say anything positive..) Esp. anything racial. But, I feel that they think they have free reign. Like most Black comics joke about us all they want. But, a white comic couldn't do that.

I think they feel like they get talked about enough by us white people. They know it goes on behind their backs and I assume they feel like they have some control over the situation if they confront racism head on. Put yourself in their shoes...if you can.
