I have heard that bones do not burn or take absolutely ages to burn...so when someone is cremated, what happens to the bones?

The denser bones will burn down to small particles, like pebbles, but anything can be turned to ash if the fire is hot enough. Sometimes they are put through a machine to grind them finer like sand.

The minerals in bones don't burn, but the collagen does. It just takes a while and a lot of heat.

The bits that don't crumble under their own weight are ground up so they don't stick out of the rest of the ashes.

Hi south..Our bones are not fully incinerated in the furnace. After the event takes place, the remains are placed in a crusher where everything is ground up. Then they are placed into a urn or other receptacle.

the bones are removed from the ashes and put into a grinder - the dust from the ground up bones is then thrown into the ashes too - why do i know? my dads an EHO (enviromental health officer) and has inspected a few cremetoruims in his time.

yes ti will burn at high heat. I just want to go natually and not in a hard wooden box, your body takes forever to decompose. I prefer to be plaaced in a bag, in the ground and give back to the earth what it gave me.
