Many conservatives like John Dean and Barry Goldwater have voiced their beliefs that neo-conservativism has turned the conservative movement into a pro-authoritarian, pro-spending, anti-civil liberties, pro-government intervention into private affairs political movement. What is a true conservative - and do GWB and his administration qualify for the label?

A "conservative" is a person whose social leanings are the right of center.
A "liberal" has views to the left of center.
Both the conservative and liberal will listen to the other arguments ( call it discussions) and their position can be changed on a particular matter if they find the argument of the other makes sense. as opposed to their views

A neo-conservative (far right) and ultra liberal(far left) cannot be assuaged to change their mind as they always perceive themselves to be right and there is no deviation. Ever.

i imagine you a lot recommend "instinctively" or "instinctually" (besides the actuality that the latter will no longer be a word in English - only a foul utilization of suffixes that has come into uncomplicated use at present for some reason).
