That particular model does not have a conventional type stick to check the fluid level.---look on the driver side with the hood open near the center point between the engine and transmission.underneath the exhaust crossover pipe you will see a red plastic "knob"screwed into the top of the transmission.that is the fluid fill opening.it does'nt have a fluid level stick attached.there is a service port plug on the driver side of the trans-accessed underneath the vehicle that is removed during a fluid change---with the engine running and the trans in park or neutral fluid will begin to escape the port plug hole which lets the tech know that the fluid is at the correct level.---gm did this because the grand am trans is supposed to be maintenance free for 100k miles.hope that helps
