They don't.

Because god put the money of the poor people in the hands of the rich people. Rich people have to give money to poor people and every time they give and help some out financially god rewards them (the rich)with more money. It's gods way of testing people if your a good person and if you give to others god will reward you in your life and after you'll die...

I think no matter how much money you have you still have to give to the less fortunate and ALWAYS be thankful for what you have because even if you don't have a lot your still lucky because some people have nothing. Right now I personally receive welfare but I am not at all discouraged because I always see people that are less fortunate than I am and I will always be thankful to god for what he has given me.... and I always give (what i can) to the less fortunate because god I know will reward me by giving me more so I can also give some more...

They don't always. There are some very, very rich people who care a lot about helping others.

It just so happens that most wealthy people, however, don't care. It's not that they look down on the less fortunate; it's that they really, honestly don't care about them.

It's not the result of being rich, or any such thing. It's mostly the result of one's upbringing and of being human. It's a natural human drive to do what is best for one's self and one's own. If a person is then raised to believe that they are *only* responsible for bettering themselves, and no one else, then their behavior tends to reflect that.

It's not always true. Many wealthy people are more than willing to help those less fortunate than them. Also remember there are a lot of wanna-be's that may act or cause others to think they have money when in reality they don't!

Greed and snobbery are part of human nature, but not everyone displays those traits. The two richest men in the world, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, are giving billions to charity to help the less fortunate.

Well that depends, who are they looking down on? People sitting on income assistance bitching they can't live on what the governments gives them, while they took out loans to go to school and worked hard for what they have earned or spoiled rich kids who have everything handed to them? There is a difference. I don't believe in less fortunate. Everyone creates there future. It depends on how much you want to put into it.

Got me? But there sure are a lot of people out there like that. Perhaps it's a way to cut themselves off from society because they are, within themselves, lets say, not so fond of who they are. So, ya know, put up the walls, and let the ego flow. Really sad.

Not all do...but the ones who do probably act this way due to their parents. They watched their parents look down on others and think this is the appropriate way to act. Otherwise they are just insecure and use the fact that they are rich to make themselves feel better.

Because they think their money makes them smart - which, obviously, is not always the case.
