I dont care for a particular show but u can reference them if u want. The reason I ask is because I am trying to complete a speech that compares sports and reality tv and how they are similar. My opening statement ( as it stands right now) is "Sports and sporting events are the originators and innovators in reality tv. Whaddaya think?

I think sports are sports. Reality TV is what people actually do. Generally the participants don't know what is coming next so you get their true reaction. For instance Fear Factor, you know that you will have to do certain stunts and eat disgusting things but you don't know what they are until you are faced with it. The millionaire was set up I think.

Okay let's address the first question. What makes reality tv interesting? Because the shows are about real people with real problems that can help other people relate to them better. Unlike actors that are playing parts that may or may not reflect anyone's life or problems. My favorite reality tv show is "Starting Over". It is about real people and their daily struggles they face in their lives whether it be personal struggles or monetary struggles or what not. The people that watch this show can relate to the people on this show and can gain wisdom and knowledge how to combat the problems that they face in their lives.

As for your comparison to sporting events and sports originators and innovators to reality tv is confusing to me. Unless you take it from this stand point, that the coaches of each team can point out and help the players play better together if they are given the proper tools to know how to deal with the certain circumstances?

I don't know that is a hard comparison. Good luck to you and I wish you well with your speech.

Reality TV is interesting because it's not reality. I mean, I have never seen anything on TV that is even close to my reality. Perhaps if the participants had no clue they were being taped, then it might be closer.
