To answer your question. God is omnipresent. Meaning, He can be anywhere he chooses to be at during the same time. Through out the earth and the universe, and all of his creation. He is Spirit. God is not bound by the laws of Nature or physics. But if your looking for a close place to be with God. It starts in your heart. And comes with a relationship with Jesus Christ. Having done that, Any place on earth is the closest to God.

Everyplace. God is omnipresent, including in the Self. I think you are closest to God when you go inside of yourself and just listen.
