There are several good articles on Hizbollah (try
Wikipedia.) This will be a summary.
Hizbollah ("Party of God" in Arabic) was formed in the early eighties to fight against the Israeli occupation of Lebanon. Israel has since left Lebanon. Hizbollah is a recognized political party in Lebanon, and holds about 25 seats in a 130-odd member parliament. The United States (but not the EU) considers Hizbollah a terrorist organization.
Throughout the middle east, especially in countries with weak governments, non-state groups emerge that provide the basics of goverment. These groups usually have a political wing and a military wing, which can operate independently of each other. The political wing supplies schools, trash pickup, etc, and the military wing works like a local army. Hizbollah is such a group. The actual Lebanese government is very weak.
The US and Israeli (as well as other) intelligence agencies say that Hizbollah gets funding and orders from the governments of Iran and Syria. There is no direct evidence that I have access to about the orders, but some of their more advanced weapons come from Iran somehow. Hizballah is also an Islamist group, i.e. their political philosophy comes from Islam. Islam is a fairly political religion.
As you might suspect, Hizbollah and Israel do not get along. Neither of them thinks the other has a right to exist. The current situation arose when Hizbollah captured/kidnapped some Israeli soldiers. The most common story is that they were taken on the Israeli side of the border. Israel responded with targeted airstrikes, Hizbollah escalted, Israel re-escalated, etc. It's debated as to why they did this; some have suggested that they want to do a prisoner swap with Israel (Israel has an unknown number, probably very small, of Hizbollah personnel as political prisoners); others have suggested other reasons.
Israel says that their aim now is to destroy Hizbollah. Hizbollah does not have the power to destroy Israel, but it would like to do so. Israel DOESN'T want to re-occupy Lebanon, because then they would probably create another Hizbollah.

Hezbollah is a radical religious group that wishes to be looked at as a form of government. They kidnapped two Israeli soldiers and that is why Israel has declared war on Lebanon, who houses the hezbollah. Iran does as well, and is the primary provider of weapons.

Hezbolla hate Israel because they feel injustice has been done against them by Israel.
Israel hate Hezbolla because they feel injustice has been done against them by Hezbolla.
They are in a cycle of violence which creates more hate, and therefore more will to kill the other side. Until both sides make an effort to come out of this cycle nothing will work.
