Usually an introduction to the company for which you are going to be working and an overview of benefits, policies and procedures. You will probably fill out any necessary paperwork --such as tax forms and the like. Most orientations that I have been through take about a half-day but when I worked for a big company in New York, we actually had a very detailed 5 day orientation!!
Often they will take you on a brief tour of the business and show you the important places like the payroll department, the breakroom/cafeteria and the restrooms.
Sometimes they also familiarize the new hire with their job duties, introduce them to co-workers and help them get settled in at their desk.
Some larger companies might include films or presentations about the founding of the company and the corporate structure and might even have presentations regarding some of the hot topics in the workplace such as sexual harassment.
Good luck on your new job.

Orientation is where you go to find out the different aspect of a job when you have gotten hired. They will usually give you information on things such as pay periods, benefits both voluntary and offered, your duties, any requirements such OSHA or saftey standards, tell you the appropriate attire, monthly meeting schedules and answer any question that you may have. It is kind a like an okay so you work here, now here is all of the things that you need to know to stay working here...
Good luck

Congratulations, you've been hired. Now they're going to meet with you and tell you all the things you cannot do without getting reprimanded.
