They just had their first baby and I'm afraid her husband and his family will want to push her family aside and that
is not gonna happen. I'd like an opinion on how to handle
the situation without causing a family feud.

It won't happen. Daughters are closer to their mothers. Sons mothers are usually the ones left out of everyday happenings. Unless your daughter thinks they are better and likes their attention cause they are better, then there is nothing you can do.

Humility works everytime. Let them have their time with the baby and you too. Set a schedule with your daughter and her husband in a non-demanding manner. Arrange for parties and get togethers to fit their schedule weekly but give time to the couple as they are just starting a family and is adjusting. As for his family thinking they are superior, ignore them. You cannot change snobs, they will one day get their cake. Good luck!

look, you are her mother, the one she will call when she has a question or needs help.they can try all they want but it wont happen, you just make your presence known, call, go by, tell the husband you love the baby and just want to be there, he wouldnt deny his mom, so be fair.
