For the record, the fact that he became President does not make him smart... especially when his brother helped him steal the election!!!

He's not stupid, precisely. But the discontinuuity between his spendid education and his inarticulate blather should serve as a warning.
His real problem is that he is profoundly immature and has a shocking inability to plan things through and adjust those plans. It's not that he's stupid in an IQ sense, but that he's still an adolescent, psychologically.
A great example of this is the way he plays golf. He lunges ahead, blithely assuming he won't get into any of the hazards and obstacles. Of course he does go into the bunker and water hazard and he feels irked for being cheated instead of the "right" reaction that he's being taught something important.

its a little slanted but all the news is.
JUDGE for your self , is bush a bright guy or just one of the guy's and is this the kind of leader we need at this point in our history.
WE have complicated matters around the world that need a presidential decision made. The intrests of the planet not just texas oil money are at stake.
ANYONE who is surrounded by capable help looks good but faced with a decision is bush capable of doing the research required or will he go strictly by his gut and live with it.REMEMBER if he does we all live with it not just bush.THE right man for the job is the man who can decide if someone else is blowing smoke up your butt ,being honest with you ,or challenging your position.
IF challenge you better be able to go it alone one on one .
PEOPLE with a real education and understanding of politics and mankind are often at an advantage in negotiations of this type .APPERENTLY bush feels conadlesia rice is more cappable then he is of negotiating on behave of the united states .IS this good or not , only time will tell , if it works out great bush is a genuise for letting her if not then we all suffer.
I would like to see a more active approach by the president of the united states ,his direct involvement would make a differance .THE people in the middle -east do not respect women and will undoubtedly be ignored to some extent.SO bushes lack of knowledge of these people may well play a bigger role in what happens .

Yep, I read it. Liberal hogwash. While agree he isn't a rocket scientist, would you rather have a intellectual without conviction, ie John Kerry, or a straight shooting "cowboy" who isn't refined, but you are going to get common sense and CAN see the forest for the trees. His little profanity the other day is exactly why I like about this President. How can anyone honestly disagree with what he said. The presentation wasn't good, but the content was dead on right.

In my opinion the people that are stupid are the ones who will think that everything a President has done, or tried to do is bad, either because the are so blinded by party loyalty, or that they are just to lazy to look at each and every issues, really look at what the house and Senate do, and make up your mind on each issue.
There are alot of things GWB has done that I agree with, and there are many I don't like at all. Same way when Clinton was pres. I think that is the biggest problem with our political system now - all good or all bad - life isn't that way and neither is any President.

It seems to me that Mr. Chait should get a job for Michael Moore. His ability to take a few minutes of the President's life; the Katrina briefing, Iraq infrastructure briefing, a discussion with Putin, and spin them into the President having a "lack of intellectual curiosity" every other minute of the day is the stuff all great spin journalists are made of. Mr. Chait should inquire about a job with Bill O'reily or Michael Moore. They would both be able to make him the best bullshiter he could be.

Well, obviously he's smart enough to be President of the United States, the most prominant country on earth, for two consecutive terms I might add. Anyone who thinks different can question the intelligence of the American people as a whole.

President Bush graduated with a Business Degree from Yale. He then graduated with an MBA from Harvard Business School. You don't do that by being stupid. Admittedly, he has poor public speaking skills (especially compared to President Clinton) and speaks too fast, letting himself get ahead of his thoughts (I do the same thing). But stupid? No.

Joe obviously voted for Bush.
Bush is not a brilliant man by any means. He has the advantages of his father being president before him and also of having all his father's cabinet members to help guide this presidency. He also has individuals advise him, write his speeches, and inform him. He's just like one of the presidential actors on tv; tell me where to stand and where's my script.

President Bush is smart enough to surround himself with some of the most intelligent advisors that have ever worked in Washington. This alone makes him, if not smart, wise.

The LATIMES Just confirmed what we already know...
And if the Bush family money didn't surround papa's Boy George W. with all those advisers...he would have wilted a looooong time ago.
Just remember he is brilliant enough to read to little schoolkids...from a book that's upside down!
(Do you think he might have dislexia and CAN'T read???
