I am aware of the "All-Star" series for Batman and Superman, where they re-explain the origins of these heroes for beginners; is there anything like that for Thor? Are there any good series currently running? Do you have any other non-Thor suggestions for a good, recent comic series a novice like myself could read (I'm currently reading The Sandman graphic novels, and am loving them)?

Thor is currently on hiatus and has not been available for a while now. However, Marvel has said that Thor will return and speculation is this year. No one knows for sure but as far as questions about which Thor titles to read and the history of Thor may I suggest: www.comicboards.com/thor/
or justy type Thor Message Board into your search engine.
The guys on that board are pretty tight abought Thor and any questions you might have I would almost bet my life they could answer.
Best of Luck!

My first book in the sixth grade was a book on Norse Mythology. I had already liked Thor as my favorite comic book hero, so this gave me more insight to his TRUE origins. After that, I was an expert on Thor!

the library should have a good book on norse mythology. but if you don't want to go there then try wikipedia. they can help you with the DC and MARVEL comics versions as well as the true origin of the thor in mythology.

Have you tried Bullfinch's Mythology...? It never hurts to get the background on those characters with some history to them!
