Why do the working poor whine? Because they are working. They aren't accepting a hand out, they are at least trying to make an honest living while Topanga, Tuneshia, and Frannie Jo Bobbi Jo spit out baby after baby and get paid to raise the next generation of welfare mothers.

And if some one who is among the working poor loses their piggly wiggly job, chances are they will just go out & find another job rather than crawl up to Social Services with their hand out expecting a free ride.

Maybe that has something to do with it.

The only people I ever hear whining about welfare are those who are on it and are about to be taken off because they can and should be working for their own keep. What is funny to me is that most of the people on welfare that I have known (and I have known quite a few) smoke. They have money for cigarettes but no money for food for their children. Again I go back to honor, where is your honor if all you do is stand at the post office every month to receive your hand out and spend the rest of the month on the couch watching Oprah telling you what a victim you are? Sad.

Poor people don't wine at welfasre because they are the ones getting money when they don't even work and decide to have 8 kids. The upper-middle class complains because they can make only a little more money than the poor do, they can be right above the line and still have to pay for the ******* poor.

Were you refering to a specific poor person? An article in the newspaper?

I'm not aware of poor people whining about welfare. Would be willing to consider any sources you might have.

Uh, you don't always get screwed by the system.
Last year I was laid off. I was offered unemployment. At first I was ashamed and felt like it was a hand-out. But you know what? I worked my *** off for five years! I deserved it..and the government has it set in place for companies to be insured for lay-offs.
But, what I don't get is welfare. That's a hand out. Unemployment is an insurance---while welfare is free money. People abuse the system while we work our asses to pay for it! I'm tired of it, but all we can do is *****, it won't change.....

Lacking the education, and sometimes the will, to compete welfare becomes a "crutch"

We could virtually eliminate welfare and much crime if ALL Americans WERE FORCED to successfully complete at least a high school education.

You ever been poor? Consider yourself lucky that you live in a country that has a welfare system, so that if you do ever fall off the rails, you'll have a safety net.
