This question is for those against gay marriage.

Many opponents of gay marriage cite one reason is that homo couples cannot create babies.

What do these people think of straight couples who cannot create babies (for medical reasons)? Or, what about straight couples who choose on purpose not to have babies? Should their marriages by annuled?

Mitt Romney made that very statement in his opposition to it. My question is this; since I cannot have kids due to medical reasons, being a straight female, does that mean I should be barred from getting married by law since there is no way for me to spawn? I thought I had to right to marry and chose not to have kids. So, by this logic, I shouldn't be allowed to be married. Gee, I think my fiancee might be a bit upset by that since it doesn't matter to him at all.

There are some religious zealots out there that will tell you that God created man and woman so that they could create more of us.

But your question is right on the money. When they cite the ability to procreate as a reason to deny gays and lesbians their rights, they are grasping at straws.

And some of us DO have children. And many of us adopt and care for the children of straight people who shouldn't have had them in the first place. (and also adopt children who lost parents or parental support in less offensive ways).

But the right to marry contains so much more than children. The right to inherit property, the homestead right to a home in the settlement of debts, divorce or death, medical visitation and permission to treatment rights, and immunity from testimony against a spouse are just a few.

We as Americans need to read our Declaration of Independence, where we declared that all men (and we today accept that we mean women too) are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights. And get off our high and mighty high horse and start walking the walk of the talk we talk.

I think that these anti-gay christians are just living way too much in the past. And I think that marriage is about being with someone you love for the rest of your life and the bible shouldn't have any saying in who you marry. I find it idiotic how one minute some christians say to love everybody, but then the next minute they're hating someone for how they live ot who they choose to love. They have no right to judge, because only GOD has the right to judge and he loves all his children no matter what.

i personally feel its not because of children people get married, but i just feel that a marriage is for a man and a woman not for two gay people even though i have a best friend who is gay. I have no problem being around gays or seeing gays together, but marriage between two gays is something i cannot morally comprehend. i am a catholic, and i follow the bible and thats my point of view on it and i understand people can hate me for what i have just said. i am sorry if i offended anyone, all i can ask is that you respect my decision.

I am gay. I have had the same husband for 20 years. We have 3 kids. They are productive members of society. And they are all straight. Sorry to shoot down that theory.

If gays get the right to marry, no church would be required to marry them. Ever hear of civil law? But the churches worth anything in God's eye, would perform a gay marriage.

Honestly, I've never heard someone who is opposed to gay marriage say that the reason they are opposed is because a homosexual couple can't have biological children.

To bring faith in to the question you must first have a full understanding of faith. Without that understanding your question is void. There is no answer that you will believe so why try. Do as you are going to do, live as you are going to live. If a cost comes at the end then be willing to pay that price.
