hey, since last week i have had problems with my rover 416i. It has broken down twice. I thought it was an immobilizer problem. So i kept on disconnecting the battery and resetting it. Anyway no matter what i did the problem continued, i have had a new starter put in, a new battery and spark plugs aswell. I have checked my oil level and it is fine but the red light keeps appearing on my dashboard each time im near a set of traffic lights or am driving slow. Maybe does need oil but am unsure. Im so fed up feel like getting a another car something reliable, for about 2000 pounds thats my budget what would u advice me too do?
Thank u for reading this x

You seem to be throwing money at your rover in a very random manner I suspect the reason the oil light comes on when the engine is idling is because your oil pump is showing signs of wear eg-; when the engine is idling the pump is not giving enough oil pressure , so next time it occurs just rev the engine a little bit if the oil pressure light go,s out that is maybe the problem which means new oil pump if that is so just bung it in an auction and say goodbye rover I would look for a tidy 2 grand ford u know u wont get a new car on your budget without getting hands on with your car that as much as I can tell u hope it helps a bit x good luck

You dont say what red light keeps coming on so cannot diagnose properly.
If you are changing go for a japanese car, A Toyota is really the most reliable
No prob. You really need to get a proper mechanic to check it out. Sounds like a petrol or ignition problem. But then again your oil pump might be poor if the light is showing.XXXXXXXXX

easiest answer is to put some oil in.
£2000 will buy a Honda 1999-2000, or a similar sized japanese car, or a V or T reg Polo, all of which should give you some reliable motoring, the Rover isnt a bad car tho, maybe try a service first?

You'll end up spending more on oil than the car is worth. GET RID A.S.A.P. i had a rover 220 GSI with an oil leak and the head gasket blew on way to work. SCRAP

oil light can mean low oil pressure good sign to get rid and find a new car. and as for buying a new car you may find no matter what you budget is you might just end up buying someone elses problems, (if the car you are buying is so good why is it for sale)

your oil light flashing could be the switch located by the oil filter at front of engine, its wiring or down to low pressure which will cost you money.
is the engine rattling at all when the light flashes?

you want to bypass see your medical professional/Nurse you'll favor an anti-fungal remedy. Im no longer certain in case you may want to purchase over the counter, why no longer ask in Boots as they're able to furnish suggestion. good success and dont go away it too lengthy..spreads like wildfire and very contagious!!!!!
