I hate the N word and think that it is totally uncool for anyone to say. Every once in a while my husband may say it, but he knows how I feel. HIS father is most likely his influence for saying things like that. I don't think that I have the right to try to correct my father in law so sometimes I just have to sit or stand where I am and remain embarrassed and withdrawn.

Sounds to me like you have already made up your mind LOL. Why is it the ugliest word? Let me ask you something, if you were born with a birth defect (any color) & all you hear is retard or words that are ill used words that are targeting your defect, would not that be pretty ugly? Which one suffers more the one who can take the "N" word with a grain of salt & walk away or the person who cant walk? I dont think you will find people with defects ever calling each other retards cuz it is cool then.
Is it any uglier then calling a female the "C" word? I think given the choice (if they were not black) they would rather be called the "N" word.
Racism works in many ways & takes many shapes. Saying it is the ugliest word in the english language would be dependant on who/why you are saying it, so hence your poll (tho asking for all races thoughts) is a form of racism because you have already deemed it the ugliest word based on your race (without thinking how truly ulgy people can be & say things to others on something they could not control & were born as).

I do not know if I would call it the ugliest word in the English language, I can think of many others. I think it is how it is used. Like friends using it on each other. Of course its not racist then, but if a white person uses it on a friend it becomes racists. It is such a double standard and blown way out of proportion.

Stupid word for stupid people. It causes conflict. If you want a conflict, use that word in a club or a restaurant. If you would like to be hurt physically, use that word in the presence of twenty tall black bald guys in an alley. Go to a CNA convention of big black women and call one of them the N word. See what happens. Go to a predominantly black high school or college and say that N word. Pray for rain as the fists fly and feet kick. Better yet, use that N word in the workplace, watch your job evaporate and the pockets of the one you called a N word get richer. Use it if you want, but watch out for conflict. Just say no to that N word.

i am a latin person and in my community people are very racist against black people. I, personally, have no problem with a black man. Some of the coolest (cool meaning fun and a good person to hang out with) people at my school are black and not to mention that they are very kind people. i understand that not all people are like this but it is beacuse or the stereotyping that that word was born. I readily admit that i have used the word before, but not insultingly but comedicly with blacks and whites around me and you know what, they seem to not have a problem that i use it because they knew i was just joking with them. thank you for your time.

The definition of this word(according to Websters) is an ignorant person. There are people of all races that this definition describes. I personally dont like the word and the ideas that it conjures up. I also dont like it when people call each other that.

Anything that has to do with putting a person down because of his or her race, I don't want any part of it. I would be glad to help you out if you pick anouther subject. I beleive we the people should try to unite instead of trying to pull us apart. I think you may be doing great with your documentary, but I can't condone calling name or putting down other people.

I'm white and that word makes ME CRINGE. Look at its origin, and the only way you would still use it is if you are IGNORANT.
