if you are at a normal weight before pregnancy, it's about 30 pounds. I suggest no more than 40.

There's a very wide margin for "normal" weight gain during pregnancy. A good friend of mine gained about what you did and lost it all and more within 9 months of breastfeeding. Really, the question to ask is "What is healthy to eat during pregnancy?" The Bradley method of childbirth recommends a balanced diet high in protein. I followed this diet which requires 80-100 grams of protein per day and it resulted in me being strong for the birth and my baby being very strong and developed.
I would recommend concerning yourself more with the quality of the food you eat rather than the actual weight gain. If you eat right, your body can do a better job of using you food for what you and your baby need instead of having surplus. By the way, I gained 31 pounds during my pregnancy and lost all but 8 pounds within a week after the birth!

Ideally 20-25 pounds. Though upwards is not uncommon or unhealthy. Just eat healthy for you and your baby, no empty calories like soda or sweets, unless your pregnancy craving says you have to. Eat healthy, and don't worry about your weight, your body will return to normal(some need a little more effort). Get light exercise. Eat regularly, no dieting. Take your pre-natal vitamins. Moms are always beautiful, so don't worry about the weight you gain.

My midwife told me between 25 and 35 pounds was a safe amount to gain. I put on 60 pounds also with my first pregnancy, and ended up on bed rest because of high blood presure. My stretch marks are horrible deep grooves. I hope all goes well for you for baby #2!

underweight 35-45 pounds
normal weight 25-35 pounds
overweight 15-25 pounds
Everyone is different, so don't be too hard on yourself if you gain a little bit more - it's better to have a healthy baby and you'll lose weight faster if you breastfeed. Good luck!!

You shouldn't gain more than 25 pounds during pregnancy unless you are underweight to start off.
