Because the peace and prosperity under Clinton were a complete illusion:

Prosperity - anyone remember the dot com crash? To the extent that a President can be responsible for the economy, you can't attribute all the good then conveniently forget all the bad.

Peace - Clinton had at least 6 years to take care of Osama bin Laden after the first world trade center bombing. He did nothing except fire a few cruise missiles at some tents (oh, and a pharmaceutical factory). Clinton wasted his time chasing down a few Serbs who he blamed for war crimes, when ironically most of the atrocities didn't start until _after_ the U.S. intervention began.

Maybe we had hope and optimism then, but it was because we were all blind and stupid. Now we know better.

Because Clinton was a big fat liar. He lied about the economy, he lied about America's security. The only people that had hope and optimism are those who wanted their welfare checks to keep coming.

Because, due to Clinton's ineffective foreign relations policies, we've been attacked and now we have to deal with the fallout. Clinton preferred to stick his fingers in his ears and shout "LALALA I'M NOT LISTENING" when it came to threats abroad. Now we're cleaning up his mess.

Do you mean the hope for our interns to give us oral and then to get away with lying in court. Great things that we really should have back in this country.

You're at war on several fronts and your right wing government is playing dirty trying to shift what used to be center to the right in order to consolidate their unholy war on the left. Pity you.
