I don't think it's right to judge anyone for what they like or dislike, cuz it's all a matter of personal opinion, isn't it? However, by knowing the type of movies a person is drawn to can give you insight into their personality and often is completely counter to what you thought they's like. . . for instance, a friend of mine is one of the most sentimental, funny people I know yet hates romantic comedies. Interesting. And, take my dad . . . one of the most stoic, manly guys, but can't stand any movies with violence or blood. Instead of judging people by the movies they like, we should learn about them from those movies.
