There are tens of thousands of children's books that are submitted to publishers (and rejected!) each year. I would suggest first examining current books on the market. What is the "hook" of each one? Is it colorful or rhymed? What ages is it marketed to?

For many children's books, they exist on the strength of the illustrator. Oftentimes, authors write and draw their own material, and I'm sure that this makes them more publishable. After all, the publisher would be responsible for finding you an illustrator. Once you have several stories, I would suggest sending manuscripts (i.e. copies) of your story in an envelope to major publishers. Unless it is beyond genius it will be rejected, so you should prepare yourself for that.

I have a friend she id from Poland a she drew for her friends book together they had it published but be careful because they found a publisher in NY and he was very slick. If u are new to it they will take advantage. He ended up taking most of the credit and profit of their children's book and it was a big success too. So either have a lawyer read the contract or you take it with u and read it. They have to give u time to do that.

First, get ideas down on paper. Think about what characters you want to include, and fill out a information sheet about each of them (you don't need to end up using all the things you write down about each character, but this might help in building a plot line). Then think about what you want to happen. What type of children's book do you want to write? Educational, poetry, fairy tale...

As far as getting published, it's really important to get the word out! Let people know about your book, and make some copies yourself to disperse (it it okay to charge for them) to those who seem interested. Good luck.

Write it first. Then think about getting it published.

Who will publish it will depend on what category/age group it fits into, so research childrens books (in bookshops) which are in the same style as yours.
