I've been using it for about ten years. I felt a difference in my skin within a week, and saw a difference within two week. My acne was completely cleared up within a month. I get cystic acne (the really big, red, painful ones that leave scars), and it's partly brought on by hormones (think PMS). I didn't go out in public without makeup for years. Now I almost never wear makeup.
People who are prone to serious acne produce "sticky" oil - it doesn't wash off easily with regular cleansers, and clogs your pores. After a week, my face felt clean when I washed it. Before, even when I was washing my face it felt tacky, like cooking oil that had spilled on the counter and dried.
You need to use it consistently - every morning, every night, all three (or more) products. You may not need the third step twice a day.
One thing you will have to be aware of - Proactiv can bleach clothing, so be careful about getting it on fabric. I've ruined dozens of shirts by bleaching out the neckline.

I got this for myself (adult acne after baby) and it took about 2 weeks to clear up. My 12 year old son then started it and he "kept ahead of" his acne with ProActiv. Since then I've had 2 daughters who have used and still swear by it. When they have switched to other products, they too had to wait a couple weeks before ProActiv could undo what had been done. An excellent product that I would endorse in a heartbeat. Good luck.

Yes it works at first. After the first two weeks of using it I broke out very bad, then a week or two later my skin cleared up greatly, but after using it for two months it seemed to just stop working. I guess my skin was adapted to the chemicals and it didn't process any longer. Kind of like Shampoo , If you use the same product over and over it stops working

proactive works, but you have to use it right. when you first start using it, you should only wash your face with it once a day instead of twice. If you use it too much too early, you skin adapts to the chemicals and it doesnt work right. Me, my sister, and even my dad use proactive- it helps, but you have to do it right. the results show in like a week or so.

Yes it does work but just like with any other face care system, YOU HAVE TO USE IT RELIGIOUSLY!!! If you go to sleep with make-up on or don't wash your face before you put your make-up on, your face WILL break out again. I used it for over a year when I was a teenager and it was AWESOME! But you really have to be dedicated to it. Now I just use St.Ives Apricot Scrub for Acne Prone Skin and it is good too.

It took a week and it looked better. Then it got worse. Then it got better and stayed better for about 4 months. I found another product and thought I would switch.. ummm wrong!
I am still (2 months later) trying to catch up to the damage I did to my face with that other product for 3 weeks.
It does work but you realllly have to have patience!

i tried it and it made my face worse. when you are using these products you have to be careful because apparently the benzol in these products are at a high percentange and can cause more harm than good, especially if you are allergic or have sensitive skin. i stoped using it when i realised it made things worse.

I tried it for a month or two, and with hardly any results, so I stopped using it.
