From dealing with sprint i can tell you this.
If you have insurance i would turn it in as a lost phone. You will have to file a police report, pay the deductible and end up with a phone that is similar to the one you had. However Sprints Insurance does NOT cover water damage of any kind.
If you bought the phone retail price through best buy, costco, or Sams Club. With the purchase of the phone, you get a full warranty. Just take the phone back with the reciept and they will completely replace the phone.

Whatever you do....DO NOT try to turn it on! You should take the battery out and let it dry out for a day or so. If you try to turn it on you could fry it. I have seen a cell work just fine if you just let it dry out. A new phone will be pretty expensive if your not eligible for an upgrade or if you do not have insurance.
Oh and next time add insurance and be CAREFUL!

Give it some time to dry out- a couple days at least. Once the water gets in, it's harder to get it out. You don't want to cook it though. If after a few days it's not working, take it in if it's under warranty or a protection plan. Accidents happen and you might get someone to trade your phone in if you flirt with them enough.
Good luck!

your shouldn't have turned it on right away, you dried the battery but what about the insides of the phone. You probably shorted something out. Next time if you drop your phone or anyother small electric device turn it off and allow it to dry over a day or so. Then turn it on.

I dropped my cell phone in my pool before. I took the entire phone apart and set it all on the counter for a few days. Put it back together and it working fine. Good Luck!

You have to get a new phone. Next time be careful. It might start working again but will start having problems very soon. It will never work the same again.

Clean it with a little denatured alcohol. It will draw water out of the boards and evaporate it.
