why dont black women shave their armpits?

I'm just curious and yes I am black

I was down at the beach and noticed this in about 5 women not every black woman I saw

I do. Some choose not to and go au natural. We are not the only ones that choose not to sometimes. Some white women do also. Remember Julia Roberts a few years ago in the red dress? Go to Europe and you'll see a whole lot of white women with hairy pits. You don't even have to do that, just check out some of the hippie, bohemian white girls at Starbucks.

Well I'm black and I shave mines, but I never really knew we didn't. Maybe it could because we just might not grow alot of hair under there. In know I don't I have very little hair growth there, but I do shave what hair I do have.

Im indian as well, and i have the exact same problem and so do my friends. Its VERY common, so dont worry too much. What i have started doing is waxing, i buy veet cold underarm strips or wax away strips from boots, and i wax my underarms, it doesnt even hurt that much, and it will make your under arms lighter as shaving makes them darker. Also i exfoliate them, by using a exfoliating scrub, to get rid of all the dead skin cells. I heard using lemon juice is effective, but i tried that and it didnt work on me. I try not to use any harsh deodrants either as that can irritate the skin. Also whatever you do, DO NOT use hair removal cream underneath your arms, it will make them darker and is basically the same as shaving, waxing will remove hair from the ROOTS and it will last for a longer time.

I think it must be a change of skin tone from scraping it each time you shave! Its almost as if the skin is getting thicker aswell as darker?? I would suggest waxing as this doesnt irritate the skin - other than that, get a good moisturisor for under your arms - I bet you moisturise your legs and arms after shaving? Maybe thats what makes a difference?

Well I'm not black and I don't beleive you are either, but has it occured to you that maybe you need glasses.Besides don't you have anything better to do while on the beach than checking out arm pit hair?

You saw 5 black women who didn't shave their arm pits, so now you wonder why ALL black women don't.
That's like saying that all white European women don't shave their arm pits.................

women were made by God and evolution with hairy arm pits and are thus supposed to attract men this way. It is only now during the last 200 years that we have been indoctrinated to believe that it is un- sexy.
Most men are turned on by a woman with hairy pits because it is natural and with are biologically wired to like it. Most men that deny this are doing so because of they feel embarrassed in accepting it.
