Why do women's shirts cost so much more to launder?!?

I asked this one at my dry cleaner who claimed it's because they are smaller and have to be hand pressed. But the distinction is NOT based on size. It's based on gender. I know plenty of small men or big women - they don't pay a different price. It's crap! So the large question is - what can I do about it? I'm going to be paid 70 cents on the dollar to a man doing the same job (on average). I shouldn't have to also pay 5x as much for my dry cleaning!

because women are much more picky about their shirts. It costs the dry cleaner more in complaints and refunds to launder women's shirts than Men's shirts so they price them higher.

A lot of times the fabric for womens shirts are very complex, ex: cotton, silk, achrylic wool etc. Secondly women will pay anything for dry cleaning when you can just as easily do it at home. Just buy a bottle of woolite wash your delicates in the sink and hang dry them then press. You are paying for convenience. If you really want to do something about it, stand outside the shop with a sign and ask women not to go there until they change the prices.

I was told by my launder that it was because womens shirts/blouses are more likely to be of a more delicate fabric or blend of fabric than mens shirts...but I think that's a load of BS though... : (
