does anyone know of a good site that gives a laymans guide to what herbs interact with prescription medication especially valerian

I doubt you will find one as there are so many herbs and so many prescription medications.
I had a bit of a look, and think your best bet is to type in the particular herb you want to find out about, then go onto a site that will give you interactions with other drugs, and any contraindications.
For example:
I typed in Valerian, and then selected http://www.org/afp/20030415/1755.html
It told me quite a lot about Valerian, and also what things it was probably best to avoid. - in the main it seemed pretty safe.

You need to consult a qualified Medical Herbalist - you can find a practitioner at www.nimh.org.uk and there is also a herbal advice line on this website which should be able to help.
