Implantation bleeding is only light bleeding or spotting. Anytime you have heavier bleeding other than your period and if you're pregnant, it could be a miscarriage or a threatened miscarriage. Implantation bleeding is usually brownish, sometimes pinkish bleeding, and is scant. It can also last for a day or up to three days - depends on the woman's body.

Implantation bleeding should be light bleeding like spotting. It's just the fertilized egg attaching to the uterus so there should not be a lot of blood. I have heard of several cases of women bleeding heavily and the baby being ok but always consult a doctor because in some cases heavy bleeding is a miscarriage or a sign that something is wrong and in some cases heavy bleeding did not affect the baby. It all depends on the woman's body and baby's development. Anything unusual or that you are not sure about should be consulted with a doctor.

It can be both! I had implantation bleeding with all 3 of my pregnancies. With my first daughter I was spotting and then it turned into heavy bleeding. I bled thru my pants,b ut then it slowed down considerably. It's called a threatened miscarriage. Fortunately, I didn't lose her. About 20% of women experience bleeding during early pregnancy.

It is very light pinkish, brownish spotting of blood. It's way lighter and shorter than your normal period. You may still have cramps, but it will only be spots of blood, not even enough blood to fill up a tampon or pad!
