Hey, don't be so cruel please. It's just nature itself. Doing its own work. I also can't sleep sometimes, and sea gulls here don't stop too. (even now, 2:00 am, Turkey). They just accompany I think. What a joy ! I live in a town far from the sea. But they are here (there is a river). In fact we owe many things to birds, especially for sleep behaviors and biological clocks. Perhaps there may be someone who would support this information. There are 17 kinds in the sea gull family (biologists please correct me and enlighten us) three of which are common in this area. In short they have perhaps more right than us to make sounds, since they are much older. As a side-hint i can advise You a documentary film-called "le peuple migrateur", or "kuslar-kanatli uygarlik", if you haven't seen yet. Loves and good sleep for all.

" To the Sea, to the sea! The white gulls are crying
The wind is blowing, and the foam is flying."
--Legolas' Song of the Sea--
(The Lord of the Rings/ J R R Tolkien)
According to the facts I've read Gulls are the most mysterious birds studied,
and least understood. Even though they are Most Common.

I wish I had a good answer.
Did you see the sea gull poop on the Space Shuttle?? It even survived launch! My poor hubby's job at Disneyland at closing was cleaning the bird poop off all the umbrella's and brass at the restaurant he worked at. He wasn't surprised that the stuff made it to space...

Must be because you live near the sea.
Damn gulls, I bet they were not around when you first bought the place.
