My partner likes pleases and thank-yous at times when I feel happy to have done something for him/us without any verbal acknowledgment needed because it seems a normal part of a loving relationship e.g. taking my turn to do the washing-up

some need to hear encouragement in love but some do not! so if he does then say thank you every now and then and your welcome every now and then!

Politeness is always appropriate. Omitting the little pleases and thank-yous smacks of taking each other for granted. So while it's good to feel happy for doing something for each other, it's something you should always acknowledge.

Besides, you can always say "thank you" with a little kiss. It reinforces the behavior you're thanking each other for...

I wouldnt say please because I dont think it is needed in a relationship since you are suppose to do for one another but a good thank you is always ok to show your appreciation.

I think its just good manners. My ex bf always got mad when I would say thank you. He felt like you that it didn't need to be said. I just have good manners and I thank people when they do things for me. I still thank my mother when she does things for me and Ive known her my whole life.
