An all-purpose player kicks off, recovering his onside kick, to start the game. On the first play from scrimmage, he lines up at center and snaps the ball. On the second play he is the quarterback. He rotates through all the positions on offense, defense, and special teams as time allows. Regardless of position, he always scores a touchdown on the final play of the game.

The founder of that....Marshall Faulk...I'm not positive..but I think he's the only Running Back to have 1000+ rushing and 1000+ receiving yards in one season (But I'm probably wrong about that)...that is a threat. Reggie Bush seems to be that very same type of back. These players are very special and any team that has one will use them.
Ladanian Tomlinson is another great example..he can run, throw, and catch.
----------------
I did a little bit of research...and one other guy I found has had 1000 rushing and 1000 receiving yards...Roger Craig in 1985 for the 49ers....

That's kind of a generic term and can mean multiple things, depending on the context. However, it is usually attributed to someone who is versatile enough to play multiple positions or remain in the game in all circumstances.

for the nfl you can be all around fullback which means you can pass block run block and run the ball so it depends on the position but most of the time it means they can do more than one thing at the postion they play..
