is it their own fault because they didn't take care of themselves, or is it the organisations fault for not warning people and taking appropriate steps to avoid tragedies like these?

People should have the common sense to look after themselves, but nowadays people can be stupid when it comes to their health, I say it is their own stupid fault, but I suppose in this day and age we need idiot-proof guides for everything.

In the military boot camp we were given salt tabs a few times a day so we would not get sick from the heat. I cannot imagine anyone not having to take any at any given sports. I think this is required and appropriate procedure for any events. I cannot explain what happen here but we will learn more about it I am certain.

It is their own fault unless they were children and didn't know better. You can't blame a sports venue if someone has a heart attack watching an event or if they heat stroke out and die at one. That is like blaming a life guard because the person couldn't swim.
They bought the ticket they took the seat they just couldn't take the heat.

I am a member of St John Ambulance and it is frightening how many people turn up at event in this weather without water. It is the competitor who should take all reasonable steps to avoid dehydration. The event organiser should supply water stations. You should know yourself if you feel faint or very thirsty and get liquid into you. We have a triathlon this weekend I hope it rains.

I think it's a bit of both, the organisation should have had warned the people at the sports event, & did they not have any first aid people there.
Also, why did the people not carry water bottles or something ?
What age were they ?

Well first of all I really hope it was my friend's ex-husband because he is a violent, nasty, son of a bit** and second,
Of course it is their own fault!! What kind of idiot goes out and stays out in extreme weather such as this!!!! If a grown man does not know safety precautions to take in this heat then he is an idiot!!!
