I'm 15 never played football before, really really big, I have my mom's approval, I'm out of shape, determined, friends with a couple of my football coaches, I don't run fast and can't run as fast as I can for a very long time, I have asthma, I don't know enough about football to play but want to, I have no friends on the football team and have a few enemies, starting to eat healthy, have GOD on my side(at least I think so), and I'm a christian. So what do you think the football coach will say when I ask to join the team? Do you think woulds work with me and by the way the coaches are pretty nice guys. Jesus Loves and Adores. 1John 3:16.

When I first started out (age 13) I was 5'6" 115 pounds. When I told everybody that I wanted to play football, even my parents laughed at me. I, also, had the favor of God. I played J.V. and Varsity football. I did have a coach that believed in me, and he once told me that if I kept working I could play college football one day. Everyone else just made fun of me. I guess they had a reason: I ran a 5.5 second forty, couldn't bench press 75 pounds, and couldn't catch a football. I played a little as a running back my senior year, but that was it. I attended a junior college while enlisted in the Marine Reserves, until I transferred to Florida A & M University in 2002. When I got there, I saw they had a football team. I decided that I was going to play football, even though I hadn't played in 4 years. Before I could, I got called to war and spent almost a year in Iraq. When I got back, I was still determined to play football. It was like a miracle: I trained for a year for the 2004 season (my senior year in college) and went from a wimpy 155 pounder, to a 190 pound beast (which is the picture you can see), capable of a 4.6 second forty yard dash, 495 pound squat, and the ability to put a 225 pound linebacker on his back. I got to play in one game. I carried the ball for 3 yards, but it was the best three yards of my life, and by far well earned. Trust me: if I can do all this (through Christ) anyone can. I hope this testimony helps. If you don't believe me (or even if you do, but you would like the motivation), read this article. Show it to any idiot who says you can't do it, and then tell them your going to anyway. Copy and paste this website into your browser.

Training camps are usually held at colleges and the players stay in the dorms. Wives, girlfriends, kids usually don't visit because of the work schedule although they probably could visit on an off day. They don't have to live close to the stadium...but they do have to be at the stadium by a certain time and some teams even stay together in a hotel the night before a game. There is a mandatory rookie symposium and rookie mini camps that player attend that start just a few weeks after the draft before that it's up to the individual player. "normal" season days vary from player to player and team to team. off season they kick back relax and heal up from the grueling season they still work out to stay in shape and may stay in some contact with coaches some may work out with team mates but it's mostly time to chill till mini camps begin in may.

Well most high school teams dont have cuts so I dont think they will prevent you from joining. I would try to get in better shape and try to learn whatever you can about the game. Also, try to make a few friends on the team so you dont feel left out. Its a lot of fun and a great experience so good luck and have fun.

well good luck. when i first started no one knew me. i was determined and made myself known. here are some tips to bulk up and get in shape. get a wheelbarrow and throw some weights in it. i do about 125 so you should do 160. get a sled (not one u use in winter, ask a football coach for help finding one) put about 100 lbs on it and strap yourself in and run backwards. great leg and upper body workouts really make you sweat. EAT HEALTHY! best thing you can do for yourself. grilled chicken is full of protein. look into some vitamins and protein shakes which you can get at a local GNC. remember no one is your friend out there you want to be better than all of them.

If you pass the physical I can't see why not. There are athletes who have asthma and still do well with the right precaution. Maybe you can get into a football camp this summer and see if you can handle it. Good Luck!

You might not make the team this year. If you let the coach work with you though you have a good chance to make it next year. I'm sure they will be happy to try to help you make it.

the asthma might get checked out. if it is not serious i dont see any reason why they shouldnt let you on the team. word of caution-make friends with your enemies on the team because they will be your heads so to speak, especially if they are playing the same position you are trying out for.

It's the coaches job to evaluate you and teach you the game (your position). If he sees potential in you he'll give you a chance. When you get that chance work hard and do your best.

regardless of what ever anyone says, if you want it badly go for it. If you get made fun of work harder. That will only earn you respect. Respect is only lost when you dont work hard, and complain. good luck man and play
