if i were you, id start out with something small like a mouse, rat, bird or fish because of the responsibilities. If you are thinking about a dog, i reccomend a small dog first like a dauschund. Then again if you are going to get a big dog, i reccomend a golden retreiver, lab, or German Shepherd. But b4 you get a pet, you probably want a book about it or maybe you want to do some research on it first. it also depends on what kind of personality you have. when you decide to get a pet or not, id go to an animal shelter. if you do so, let the animal come to you, dont come to the animal. trust me. it works out to a lot of different people.

I recommend you do a lot of reading about different pets and breeds. Personally, I would say to get a cat or a dog, they're definately the most fun. Dogs are higher maintenance though... cats you can pretty much keep in the house, you don't have to worry about walking them or taking them outside to do their business. Purebreds are more expensive, but when I eventually get my first pet, I'm going to get a purebred. Probably a Himalayan kitten... I think they're beautiful. Oh, and make sure you find a good and honest breeder if you go that way, dog or cat. Good luck!

Well you gotta ask yourself some questions. Do you want a big dog or a little dog? A dog that doesn't need a lot of physical activity or a dog thats meant to physical more times than not? Do you want a kid friendly dog or a guard dog? You get my drift???? Trying coming back with more specific wants then you can concentrate on a breed.

I would say a bird perhaps a small breed like a lovebird or cockateil. Yea they are a little more vocal then dogs or cats but no having to litter train or deal w/picking up crap or fleas. They are very lovable, sweet, & tame if tou get a hand-fed baby then they are going to b cuddley (more then you think) & will be your best friend. I would totally recommend them..Good Luck & I hope you find the perfect pet for you:)

Hamsters are good pets. They are small inexpensive and you don't need to train them. If you wan't a dog go to the animal shelter and adopt an adult dog. Any breed is good

i have had dogs, cats, birds, rodents, fish, and reptiles. if you want something that requires some interaction i think a cat, it's less difficult to care for than a dog. just my opinion.
