This is normal for the end of your pregnancy.

You need to be sure to keep your legs elevated above your heart. Lay in bed and put some pillows under your legs to help the fluid circulate.

Be aware of how your feeling and how extreme the swelling becomes. Extreme cases can be indicative of hypertension (high blood pressure) or toxemia.

Keep in contact with your Dr. and don't hesitate to see him/her earlier than arranged if you need.

Put your feet up whenever possible. Lie on your left side when possible. Don't cross your legs or ankles while sitting.

When should I be concerned about swelling?

A certain amount of edema is normal in the ankles and feet during pregnancy. You may also have some mild swelling in your hands. However, call your midwife or doctor if you notice swelling in your face or puffiness around your eyes, more than slight swelling of your hands, or excessive or sudden swelling of your feet or ankles. It could be a sign of preeclampsia, a serious condition. Also call your caregiver if you notice that one leg is significantly more swollen than the other, especially if you have any pain or tenderness in your calf or thigh.

At 35 weeks your probably doing good to just be swelling now. packing in the water is ,ironically, your best bet. You certianly should not eat alot of salty foods but restricting salt may not be good either. Remember the water you drink is plain and the body runs on saline so if you are flushing all that salt out with alot of water you will need to replace it. Also water- soluable vitamins, like potassium can also be flushed out with high water intake. Lack of potassium leads to leg cramps at night. You are already walking and as uncomfortable as it may be it also helps to keep the fluids circulating and prevents swelling, of course putting your feet up helps too and in this heat it has it's advantages.

When you say that you have puffy feet Im guessing you are talking about them being swollen?? I havent experienced this but there was a lady in my Lamaze class that had problems with it and she said that her doctor wanted her to drink atleast 10 glasses of 8oz of water a day and also to keep her legs lifted. Hopefully that will help you also ask your doctor they may some other things that could help.

Girl! How lucky are you to have made it to the middle of July and are just experiencing water retention. Be sure and keep your doctor appointments...sometimes it can be a precursor to pre eclampsia.

Other than that....stay away from salt...and drink TONS of water. It sounds crazy...but it helps. Also, take great care of yourself. Needless to say no pantyhose and wear sandals as much as you can. Best wishes on a great delivery!

If you eat a lot of salty foods such as potato chips or french fries then try to stay away from them. Keep your feet elevated as much as possible and wear shoes with soft but firm soles.

This is very common. Just do more relxing!! Get your partner to do more for you so you dont have to have all the pain! Just keep them soaked in warm water to try and relax the muscles and ease the pain. The swelling will eventually go away.

Oh yeah I went through that. It is water weight. Your body is trying to make extra installation and it is to keep you hydrated after you have the baby it will take a couple of weeks but it will go away.
