People have told me my whole life I should be a model. I'm 15, 5'7 1/2" and a size 3. How can I get into modeling without being scammed?

At least your being smart about it. Start out by going to your local dept. store and asking them who is in charge of the window displays, so on and so forth. There is usually a company that they deal with directly and they should be able to refer you. Don't ever pay to get your portfolio put together, it's a waste of money. Just ask the photographer at each shoot for a CD copy of the photos after he touches them up. Start building your portfolio and dropping it with local modeling agencies. The trick is to get out there at the events and be seen, continually seek new jobs and never work for free, EVER! I don't care what they tell you, you are only there to make money the second you start working for free is when you don't have a future in modeling.

There's my advice. Good luck!

Modeling is a very tough business. It's hard work and long hours. There is a lot to think about here. First you have to have something to show the agency, many pictures in all kinds of poses. Modeling school maybe required, unless you are a very good actor and fast beginner. Being only 15 even makes it harder. There are many Web Sites You can go to and get info on modeling. You should get your mom and dad to help you with this, if it is something you wont. But once you start there will be little time for anything else. But like most things in life they start with a dream. Dreams can come true if the person wont's it bad enough. Good luck and happy hunting.

I have heard a lot of bad thing about SOME (not all) modelling agencies and how they make you pay for photos and photo sessions before they take you on then never give you any work. Always check with the local Better Business Bureau.

NEVER GO ON YOUR OWN ALWAYS TAKE YOUR PARENTS!!!! BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU SIGN!!!

I think a better starting place before you go to agencies is if you have a friend who is reasonable with a camera (do not have to be a professional or even that good just okay) Just take 100 photos of yourself in different poses, clothing and backgrounds then pick out 10-20 nice photos. You can then use this as a portfolio, and even better instead of printing them which cost you money every time, host them on a website and get some business cards print with the website address on and just hand these out instead. This is a far cheaper way of doing it and with no RISK. You should never have to pay to get a job if you do there is a high chance it is a scam.

However if you would like a personal portfolio site please contact me and I will set you on up for free. I can design you a fully personalised flash website with as much or little information and then host it for you. This site can contain a gallery of your photos, personal information, list of work, contact details, etc or if you prefer just a couple of photos and nothing else. It can be password protected and all images will be protected as is humanly possible, or the photos can be available to download.

Examples of work can be provided on request. Just message me here if you want, I am a professional website designer but have lots of free time (and enough money) so I am currently doing free sites for small bands, small artist etc, basically anyone who could not afford them otherwise. I have my own hosting server so can offer hosting servers or you can host the site yourselves. No images sent to me will be used for anything other than your site and I will not give anyone your detail or link to the site. You will have complete control and the site can be removed or changed at any time. This is not a scam and I will design a site for FREE, I do not need the money, and enjoy working. If you do want it message me you can tell me what you want and how you want it done and I will help.

parents permission required!!!! before i start work on anything for you.

Modeling is a really tough business, all modeling schools cost money and you really have to have a beautiful face and be real tall to really make it. I know somebody who made it as a model, she didn't do anything she was walking through the mall and got approached, but she had a beautiful face and was 5'10" and 115 lbs, she was 14 when this happened and still models in her twenties.

i totally disagree with the guy up top.. he has no idea what hes talking about.. when your first starting out and inexperienced no one will want to pay you for a job.. you HAVE to work for free.. to get your name out there.. and to have expereince under your belt.. n need to network.. working for free doesnt mean ur carreer is over.. thats how i got my start.. is working for free.. and now i book job constantly.. so the guy up top dont know nothing.. first of all.. dont look on here for a agency.. get some headshots done first.. dont pay too much since your first starting out and dont know if you will like it or not.. (believe me its hard work) and send them out to agencies.. that basically all you can do as of now.. since your still young and first starting out.. DONT ever go to a school like barbazon.. those are not legit. and are scams.. and remember that agents never ask for money up front.. they only to percentages off of your checks.. so yea.. good luck !

Heidi Klum. She has this organic, radiating elegance that in spite of if she isn't donning any makeup, she seems virtually a similar or perhaps greater effective than the different fashions without their makeup on.

Don't ask on a public forum. OK? Have your parents coordinate everything and be chaperoned with your parents. That is if you are serious. All young girls get that comment from the perverts.

uh, I started with going to competitions, the official one in manhatten. then my manager contacted me, and asked me to model for some teen magazines....I can't make it to famous, but at least I am doing something I love. by the way, you should try with going in person, instead of mails. so....good luck honey!!!
