I've tried tossing it off the roof. Didn't do squat. Tried heating it. Even left it outside for two days (it's 105 here) and it didn't work. Just made it too hot to pick up. As for rust...how would I know?? It's stuck together.

Toss it off your roof. It'll be separated when you pick it up.

Have you tried WD-40? Spray some as best as you can in the crack separating the lid and then repeat the above.

I tried the ideas suggested here, from heating the cast iron lid & pan on a stove, to trying to pry the lid off with a screw driver, or dropping them on a hard service. This worked: I drilled two small holes (1/16 inch diameter) in the lid. I expected that if the cause were only a vacuum this would solve the problem. It didn't. So I then put lid with pan into the sink under water. In time the pan was about 3/4's full. Then I put them on a hot stove to bring the water to boil. Careful, a bit dangerous. Lid rose inches into the air. Old grease along with a vacuum stuck them together. Note that often glass lids come with a hole in them. Easy to put grommets into the holes to prevent rust. See little white dots in the picture, the two holes drilled.
