He was definately out of line!!! No question about it!!!

But if I may correct you, Zidane did not lose it for the French, the Italians won it for their country!!!!!

Not only do I agree with the person who asked the question, i agree with everyone who's answered so far. Zidane did what he does best... he let his anger get the best of him because contrary to the opinion of his supporters, he's done this before, its not like it was something out of the ordinary for him to do. and saying that "it must have been something REALLY bad that materazzi said for zidane to react the way he did" then... what did the other two guys say before zidane headbutted or stomped on them? He's just looking for a way out that way people don't remember him as a sore loser and a bad sport in the last game of a memorable soccer career. now he'll be remembered MAINLY for his attack on the Italian player. Way to use ur head Zidane! Maybe you should have aimed it at the ball.. it might have done your team a better service. However, I'm a proud Italian so it doesn't matter to me either way. in my opinion, the best team won!! FORZA AZZURRI E MATERAZZI!!!!!!!!!!

well, all u guys know for how long zidane has been playing football.wateva he did is typical of a young player and not of someone of zidane's stature.and that exactly is my answer.zidane wouldnt have done it for some petty reason.zidane knew abt the importance of the game more than we do.and its apparent that all u guys are italian fans, thats y u r bashing zidane.look at it frm a neutral perspective and then u will know.i do,however agree that there were better ways to deal with materazzi's comments/curses/wateva.

Funny but not true DAVID TREZEGUET lost it for the french by missing the pk not Zidane and i would of done the same as Zidane if some one was saying "i hope your mother and sister die a horrible death" since Zidanes mother really is dieing he took it VERY personal.

first of all the italians knew they had no cnahce if Zidane was playing ! and secaond that is what he said , I am paraphrasing " est ce que vous pensez pour une minute pendant les derniers minutes de ma cariere je le ferais pour le plaisir , pour une minute es ce que vous pensez a ca ?!" meaning " do you think for a minute that during the last 10 minutes of my career i would do that just for pleasure, does that thought cross your mind for one minute" the interviewer answered " oh, of course not" If i was Zidane and somebody insulted the women in my family , Materazzi would be paralized! And by the way Italy was my second favourite ( other that france) so I am glad that they won. but I am starting to beleive the rumorsabout them being racist though.

I agree with you totally my friend.........you know with time a lot of things come to surface......when supporters of Zidane find out he has done this before......they try other insults......you mention Totti's spit and what provoked it in 2004 and they seem lost.......we show how we didn't make a big stink over the Totti spit and how we never asked what was said to him to make him react that way and again they twist and search for other excuses.......you know what.........if you support the french good for you but at this moment I would be very embaressed if I were you........there is no justification for what Zidane did..........it was completely shameful...........just as Totti's spit was in 2004.........only difference is........the italians understood it was wrong of him and didn't complain.......the french made a hero out of Zidane........how pathetic can you get?.........and one last thing my friends...........Materazzi is one hell of a tough cookie...at 6'2"....he is more than capable of defending himself.......but you know what.......he was smart enough to stay down and not react and take one FOR THE TEAM.......yes team......maybe someone should of mentioned this to Zidane..........THE TEAM COMES FIRST ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!

He's an idiot. Anyway, his penalty kick in the first half was a farce....there was no penalty. The French, by all measures, should have lost that game. Zidane's career is now fully shadowed by his childish behavior.

im so happy people are finally speaking out against zidane. before all the questions were against materazzi and how zidane was right. im not saying what materazzi did was all that great, but i think zidanes reaction was wayyy worse.

Italy of course...they played the best team football and it was proven when they lifted the Cup. A lot of other teams were talented but couldnt put it together when it mattered most. Give the champs the respect they deserve. It is only fitting.
