how do I get a grant?

Has anyone ever recieved a grant form the government to go to school? I want to take some classes but already have thousands to pay back in student loans. What is the best and easiest way to get a grant?

Government grants known as "Pell grants" are the only official grants offered by the U.S government to students. When you go to fill out your fasfa information in order to see which government loans you qualify for, it will also determine if you are elidgible for the pell grant. Fasfa stands for free application for student financial aid... (i'm pretty sure anyways) once you fill that out and submit it (which you can do online) you will eventually be notified what types of loans and or grants you are eligible for. If you are not a dependent, your chances of getting a pell grant increase.

Call your local community college and have them give you some phone numbers to apply/ask about grants. There are a number of grants out there, you just have to know how to apply, and what they're for. If you don't have a local community college, perhaps your local library can get you that info, and help.

Walk into a crowded place, like an airport, and call out: "Grant? Grant?" Someone named Grant is bound to answer you. Then you will have your Grant.

there is a pell grant, that is not re-payable, but all government grants require certain criteria,ie.are you living alone,have a dependent, what is current income. go to the college of your choice and ask to speak to a counselor,they will be able to guide you through the maze.
