Find a common denominator, in this case 20, since 4*5=20. Now, 5*4= 20 and 4*5=20. So what you'll need to do is multiply the first fraction by 4 and the second one by 5. So 2/5= 8/20, and 2/4= 10/20. Add the two now, so the sum is 18/20, which reduces to 9/10.

The answer is 9/10. You need to find a common denominator for both 4 & 5. Use 20. you then multiply 2/5 by 4 = 8/20. You multiply 2/4 by 5= 10/20. Add the two together = 18/20. then simplify = 9/10

2/4 + 2/5 = ?
Find smallest common denominator, or the smallest number divisible in whole numbers by each bottom number = 20
20 divided by 4 (bottom number) = 5
5 x 2 (top number) = 10
2/4 = 10/20
20 divided by 5 = 4
4 x 2 = 8
2/5 = 8/20
Now add the top numbers & leave the denominators the same:
10/20 + 8/20 = 18/20
Reduce the fraction
18/20 = 9/10 = 90 percent
Voila! Another "A"!!!

you need to make the denominators the same before you can add the fractions to each other:
2/5 and 2/4 have denominators of 5 and 4. 5 and 4 can both be multiplied by whole numbers to equal 20. when you multiply a denominator, you must also multiply the numerator.
since 5 must be multiplied by 4 to equal 20, 2 (the numerator) must also be multipled by 4. so we end up with 8/20.
do the same thing with 2/4, which must be multiplied by 5 to equal 20. so we get 10/20.
8/20 plus 10/20 is 18/20, which can be reduced to 9/10.
your answer is 9/10.

I'm not a math expert but if added you get 13/20. You find the least common demnominator of 5 and 4, since you can't divide either by one number you multiply them it gives you 20. then you have:
2/5= ?/20 20 divided by 5 =4 plus 2= 6/20
+2/4= ?/20 20 divided by 4=5 plus 2=7/20 then
six plus seven =13over 20. Since you can't reduce the answer is 13/20. What do you think.

Find the least common denominator, in this case its 20
2/5 = 8/20
2/4 = 10/20
8/20 + 10/20 = 18/20 or reduce to the lowest terms 9/10

To add fractions you must reduce to the same divisor. Multiply the both terms of the first by 4 and the both terms of the second by 5, you will get: 8/20 + 10/20 and the result will be 18/20 that can be divided by 2... 9/10
There are another way. You transform it to decimal form.
2/5 is 0.4 and 2/4 is 0.5 Now you add 0.4+0.5 = 0.9 or 9/10
