were driving your fiance's truck with a learner's permit with his permission and got in an accident in which both you and another driver were at fault but you caused a small dent in the back passanger side near the door no bigger than your hand. Neither of you called the police nor exchanged insurance info I don't think he got my tag number either. So, I gave him my phone number and he gave me his and I informed him this would be an outta pocket payment to fix the dent since I didn't want to get the insurrance company involved. The other driver called to say he got an estimate and it was about a thousand and some odd dollars, and lied and said that I caused his trunk to become unaligned! What would you do? I am not willing to pay those cost thats too much but I don't want to place a claim because I don't want my insurance to inflate what do I do????? He only has my phone number!!!!

I am 23 my old license expired while i was away in the army and I didn't know, until the grace period to renew it within 60 days had passed so I have a learners permit. May I also add that my fiance has the vehicle and it's insured under his name and I am afraid that he will drop the claim. As for the police they were never called and it wasn't a hit and run we swapped phone numbers. I think since I decided to tell him I wanted to pay outta pocket he deciding to take advantage of me! I don't have alot of money to just shell out can a police report be filled after 5 days? I mean my gosh!

change your phone number.
You'll probably never here from him again.
If you do, deny it ever happened to everyone.
Good Luck.

You should say that you will pay for the dammages after you look at the estimate yourself. Offer to go to the garage where the estimate was done and look at it onsite. They will have a copy. If it seems too high you have a right to suggest another estimate. My question is ~ how do you have insurance with a learners permit? Are you even old enough to drive? What kind of dummy lets someone without a license drive their car? Yikes. ALso, there is a chance that you did mess up his alignment. Also, dont assume that just because he has only your phone number that he wont try to place a claim or report you to the authorities and try to find you that way. How hard is it to memorize a license number. NOw tht both of you have fled the scene of the accident without doing what most smart people do, there is no way to prove who was at fault. He could easily say that you manipulated him into this and that you are now refusing to pay for dammages you caused. Thats why you were supposed to have a license. you might know some of that crap if you did. duh.

You should have him take the car to a mechanic that you have used before and trust, the thing is - it probably does cost that much to fix the problem, cars are extremely expensive if you break them. You should get at least 3 quotes from different body shops that ensures your getting the best price. Whatever you do don't just ignore the problem, it will not go away. If you ran into the back of his car it is possible his trunk became unaligned. Be a good person and take responsibility for your actions. Best Wishes!!

First step, tell the fiance.
Second step, learn the lesson. Take both cars to the same place for an estimate (a second opinion - if you're paying for the repair you have a right to choose where).
What were you doing driving alone on a permit? And does that make you 15 or what? ;)

Ask him to meet you at a Dent masters in your area, They'll give you a great deal and it will look like new. Tell the guy your willing to fix it for a reasonable charge, once you meet, make sure you take pictures and get his license plate number!!! In case he tries to say it was a hit and run. Ask him to sign an agreement that you will settle out of court.

Tell the guy you think "he" is being taken advantaged of!
Offer to help him get 3 or 4 estimates,go to the places ahead of time and explain your limited funds and ask for a reasonable price.
Good Luck, this is the way to go.
Oh,come clean with your mate,he will help you.

If you both agreed that you both were at fault, then you should have never exchanged anything. If your both at fault, you should each play for your own damages. You should also talk to your fiancee, if you are going to marry this person you should be able to trust them to help you out witth this. If something minor like a car accident is going to cause a huge problem with him, then you may want to reevaluate your relationship.

You can be tracked by phone number. You can get your future license revoked if you file a claim and they WILL ask for a police report.
Pay the cash!

If there was no witnesses, it's your word against his,and he'll have to prove it was you that hit him. And if neither of you turned it into your insurance, he probably can't have his insurance co. come after you.
Hope this helps.
