I would say you'd be fine. You'd actually have much MORE trouble doing that with a child that was crawling or walking. My daughter was fine for hours in the car until she got old enough to crawl and cruise, then that's what she wanted to do. I had to take her 2 hours in a car to a camping trip when she was about a year old and it was positively HORRIBLE. She screamed and cried the entire way because she wanted to move around.
With an infant you simply need to be prepared to stop for changings and feedings. No problem comparatively.

I would wait until the baby can take turns with the driving! LOL. Truly, though, the baby will be fine on the trip, but it will not be much fun. With the car seat laws, babies have to remain strapped in at all times, which can get very uncomfortable. Think about it-- when you were a kid, you probably could stretch out in the back seat, or at least move around some. When you went on trips as an infant, your parents probably held you in the car. I took my son on a 8 hour car trip when he was about 3 months, in the summer, and it was miserable!! So hot, and when we stopped to let him stretch and all, the a/c didn't stay cold for long. All in all, not something I would recommend, though health-wise I am sure it would be fine

I've found that the younger, the better. Both of my boys loved the motion of the car...it knocked them out within a minute or two of being in it. If your baby is young when you go, she might just sleep through most of the trip.
When my younger son was 6 months old, we moved from Michigan to Georgia (nearly 900 miles). We left at night, so the baby was sleeping. He'd wake up for diapers and to eat, but was generally right back asleep. He wasn't fully awake until the next day at 4:00 p.m., then he realized he'd been in a car for so long and started screaming. We were an hour away from our new place. That wasn't fun, lol.
The whole trip (including stops) took 18 hours (we took it slow because of the moving truck). It worked out well enough.

Yes, that will be fine. Have bottles on hand, and make plenty of stops to get the baby out and stretch. If you are breast feeding, then I'd have bottles filled with breast milk, b/c they can get somewhat cranky, but I found that my son would fall asleep for huge stretches at a time. Sit in the back seat with the baby and you can kill time for both of you by entertaining the baby. My son's biggest toy at that time was my hand!!
We (my in-laws, myself and my son) went on a big road trip when my son was around 3 months to see my husband at basic training, so I know exactly how it is. Oh, and congrats on the bun in the oven!

my son and i flew from cleveland to miami when he was 6 weeks old and he did great....but to drive with a new born for a few days...i personally wouldnt do it...i think that is entirely too long for a baby to be in a carseat....actually...we just got back from a trip from ohio....it was a total of 21 hours...which we stayed over at family house about 1/3 of the way there....my son is an extreemely good baby and i didnt have much problems with him but it was rough and i wouldnt want to put him or me through it again

I took my daughter on a 20 hour road trip but I waited until she was 18 months. She did better than I had expected, but we had to break it up over 2 days. But when we got back home she didn't want anything to do with her car seat.

My daughter took her first trip at leat then a week old. It was a 8 hour drive normally. But with her it took 12 hours. I think it is fine as long as you can stop alot. We stopped about each 2 hours and feed her, changed her and cuddled her.

It depends b/c each baby has their own personality. I know for my baby, it probably would have been okay b/c she still slept alot at that point. The main thing is to stop regularly for changing and food, just like with an adult, and try to bring music your child will enjoy or toys they want to look at.

i'd take your toddler with you my son is 7 months and has been occurring a 10hr vacation 5 up 5 lower back..once a month considering 2wks and he does large we in all likelihood supply up about 3-4 circumstances to regulate him let him stretch out and many the vacation he sleeps the purely reason he wakes up is to eat quite a lot so i'd advise taking your toddler!! sturdy success

It fully depends on the baby. Some simply hate the motion in the car.
