I am currently using Nutrogena it makes my skin not breathe. Is that how it should feel...any other suggestions?

Make sure the sunscreen you choose has an SPF of at least 15, and higher if you plan to be outside for longer or if you have especially burn-prone skin. Sweat proof or water proof is good, but not "fool-proof" - it still must be reapplied every hour to hour and a half, just like any other sunscreen. It just doesn't wash off as easily.

Look for sunscreens that protect against both UVA and UVB rays. It should have one of the following ingredients: avobenzone, titanium dioxide, or zinc oxide. The latter two provide a stronger barrier, but can leave a whitish cast to the skin. We used to think that UVB rays did all the damage, but we found that the UVA rays go deeper and can cause wrinkles and skin cancer.

Finally, you really should apply sunscreen every day, regardless if you plan to spend time in the sun or not. UVA rays can penetrate windows (that daily commute can destroy your skin).

Try using different sunscreen on your face and body. The skin is very different, and there are several sunscreens that are made specifically for the face. Kiss My Face has a really nice one (second link).

I don't know what you mean by your skin not breathing.
I'm a red-head and get burnt very easily- w/o protection I can't stay out even 10 min.
I just use the cheap stuff and it works fine. Just make sure that you don't use anything that's been open for a year. I use SPF 15. Anything higher than that is not really going to do any good. And KEEP REAPPLYING. I don't care if it says sweat-proof or water-proof.
All the expensive stuff is just marketing, don't be fooled.
