you could go ahead and use the checks for the good start just so they don't expire, but check with his doctor before you switch formulas. it's not a good idea to jump back and forth between brands as it can cause some stomach problems and possibly allergies. i got a ton of those coupons and if they were enough to almost completely pay for the formula, i would use them and keep it on hand in case of emergency. just remember that once you open a can of the powder, you have to use it within a couple weeks or it goes bad. an unopened can should have an expiration date on it, and most have a shelf life of about a year, i think.

Go ahead an use those Good Start ones. That would be just fine. The best advice I could give when changing formulas is to wean him off one and on to the other. This will help avoid any stomach upset.

Good Start is much cheaper and burps and spit up don't smell nearly as bad. I know it still stinks but not nearly as bad. Good Start has somewhat of a sweeter smell unlike the stinch that comes from Similac.

I wouldn't switch around from formula to formula, once you find one you like stick with it. I switched on my child once from Similac to Good Start. Best choice I made when dealing with formula.

Happy Parenting.

I went through 5 formulas with my son before we settled with Good Start. If you are going to switch him stick with one formula for at least two weeks to see how the child reacts to each one, it will allow their body to adjust to it. The similac is a great choice, but I would recommend talking to the pediatrician before making any decisions. You should have a two week check up coming soon, I would ask then. Best of luck with your new little gift, being a mom is the best thing in the whole world :o)

It would be okay but you need to wean him off the formula you are using. You would give him one bottle the first day of Good Start, then 2 the next day and so on. This way it isn't such a shock for his system as all formulas are different and each baby reacts to them differently.

You can change the formula, however do it in moderation. Slowly introduce the new formula. Do not just change it, you will have more problems that way. If you slowly change it, then he will have an easier time adjusting to it and won't have upset belly from a drastic sudden change. I personally like the good start better because when you mix it, there is less bubbles, which means less gas in tummy. Just be careful when introducing new stuff to him, and everything should be ok.

Try it. If he shows any signs that it is bothering him, like spitting up, gas or runnier stools than normal, stop giving it to him. I used Similac with my son. Whenever I got samples of other types of formula I would mix them half and half with the Similac just in case of problems. He never had any though. Why are you supplementing with formula?? Do you want to exclusively breastfeed or are you pumping?? My daughter is almost 6 months old and I have been pumping to feed her. I haven't had to supplement at all. She had problems latching and then got used to the bottle and won't even try to latch on anymore. Email me if you want some tips on increasing your supply.

DO NOT switch formulas!!! I think you should be calling the pediatrition instead of asking a bunch of strangers how to care for a 10 day old baby...call me crazy...

Just because you have a "coupon" for Nestle doesn't mean you should switch. Go to: http://welcomeaddition.com/ and sign up as many people as you can. They will all get free samples and $5 coupons in the mail.

yes that would be way too much for him remember that your baby is only ten days old and a baby's stomach is very sensative so giving your baby different kinds of formula isn't very good for his stomach that could cause serve stomach pains and gas a even vomiting and it's best to keep the baby one one formula because at this age and beyond you have to watch out for allergic reactions. so i would say to pick one formula and stick with it the only time i had to change formulas is when i found out that my son was lactose intollerent.

Changing formula can cause upset tummy and diarrhea or constipation. If you make 8oz of formula you can add 1 scoop of the alternative formula and 3 of the usual to reduce stomach problems. Congrats and good luck!

It will not harm him just as long as you use the same kind of formula. Example cow's milk based, iron-fortified formula stick with that for different brands.
