I am not a man but let me help you with your "outdated mode of thinking".
Simply ask yourself, why can't I combine these elements? Love AND success?
I know men don't like to feel trapped. But consider this. If you keep letting potentially good relationship material get away from you, then one day you are going to be ready. It may be years later. But you will find that money can't hug you back or bring you a bowl of hot soup when you have the flu. It can't tell you you mean the world nor can it give you offspring to bring forth your seed. You know. The "mini you." And so you're going to want to go backward a bit and reconnect with all the women you knew were good potentials. Check on them.
The problem is.....all the potentials have been paired off with men who were wiser than you! When you come back around....the ladies will all be married off, with children and lives, of their own and there won't be room for you. They may be different from bad relationships and now they are hardened or unavailable emotionally.

First of all, financial success has nothing to do with finding true love. Second, you can't control when and who is your true love.
I would choose financial success. I know that sounds selfish/greedy but I'll tell you why. I cannot control when, who, where, etc. the true love of my life. I leave that to the hands of God and fate and destiny. Even if people say they can, it doesn't explain the grand scheme of the human experience. The why of why things happen. As for in financial success, I control the money. All financial transactions can be explained. It's a little less popular school of thought called economics.
If I can have both, and many of us strive for it, I will truly be rich.

Most important in my life is this: sharing your life with someone who believes in the same things as you do and truly values you and the way you think with honest feedback.
So, i would say these things are important to me:
Open Communication, because it builds trust.
Genuine friendships, because they last a lifetime
Honesty
Trust
Respect
Caring
Sharing
Apprecation
A Sense of Humor
Unconditional Love.
Notice that money doesn't even appear on the list?
In my world, people come first. That is where it's at.

financial succes, so that when I meet the one I'll love forever, ill be able to buy her everything she deserves, for making me the happiest man alive. If you put love as your primary objective, then you'll make the person you love live a miserable life, full of love yes, but with struguling consecuences, that eventually makes that great love dimm out.

financial success does not have to interfere with true love.
Is true love so needy that you can't put the hours in?
